Summer Program Guide

With just three weeks to completely redesign a 28-page document, my counterpart and I quickly divided the workload and transformed a text-heavy Word file into a visually engaging communication tool for members.

The Summer Program Guide at Kalamazoo Country Club is the key resource for keeping members informed about the upcoming season. Originally a Word document that made finding information a challenge, we transformed it into a polished catalog that leadership is proud to share with members.

Week 1: Gather Info + Align on Design Direction

  • Met with the Kalamazoo Country Club team to understand the current document and discuss their vision for the redesign.

  • Collected final information and photos from department leaders so all content was up-to-date and accurate.

  • Collaborated with another team designer to align on a cohesive color palette, fonts, and design style, ensuring a seamless flow between the pages created by both of us.

  • Reorganized the content to fit the new publication layout and assigned specific pages to each designer for completion.

Week 2: Design the Pages

  • The other designer and I each focused on our assigned layouts, with each of us handling about 14 pages of content.

  • With contributions from four different department leaders, the guide initially featured four distinct writing styles. We refined the content to ensure a more professional and cohesive tone.

  • I also reorganized the information to make it easier for members to quickly and efficiently find the programs they were interested in.

Week 3: Finalizing + Sending Out

  • We assembled and refined our pages to ensure a polished final product.

  • Before presenting the 28-page document to the country club leadership, we conducted an internal review with three team members to gather feedback.

  • Following a few minor updates based on the leadership's input, the document was published online and printed copies were made available to the leadership."
